About the author
My Life
M.K. Mortigan is an American author who has been writing from a young age. Family would often share in writing prompts together, cultivating an atmosphere of creativity for the young author. M.K. had a mother who wrote many unpublished works for the joy of their family, a father who had articles published in the newspaper, Eighty-One, and brothers who wrote anything from fiction to academic theses. The Manic Mimic series is the third novel series that M.K. has personally created and is the culmination of experience gained from previous unpublished projects.
Outside of writing, M.K. Mortigan's interests include painting, Olympic level daydreaming, playing video games, and spending time with family, including two rescue cats.
My Work
In the early days of the pandemic, M.K. wondered what would happen if humans could never go outside again? That question inspired post apocalyptic thriller series, Manic Mimic.
Readers can anticipate themes of hope, personal accountability, and resisting revenge throughout this series.
My Themes
The opposite of wrong isn’t always right. Sometimes, the only distinction between good and evil is the cost associated. Despite hopelessness in the face of evil, never give up. One day, the only difference between good and evil succeeding may be you standing against evil. Care for yourself today so you can succeed tomorrow.

Book One: Jonah
Adjusting to the new normal of underground living is never easy. It’s only made worse for Jonah Walker, an optimistic family man who works for the government, as he realizes he shares a face with a violent criminal on the run.
Jonah’s ability to remain apathetic to authoritarian rule is torn away as he is injured chasing his own deranged doppelganger. Financially strained during his recovery, he comes to terms with how close his family really is to being evicted from the Pods into the radioactive wasteland. Caught between criminal chaos and oppressive order, he is dragged to desperate, blood-chilling survival that leads him to learn the truth about the Pods’ intended purpose.
